Access control is actually nothing more than “Who can come in, where and when”. In other words, an access control system recognises a person who is carrying a valid pass, determines whether this person is authorised to enter the location in question at the right time and grants or refuses access.
But access control is more! Access control implies continuous protection, and therefore forms an important link in pretty much any security plan. Also, all too often the risks of a business or institution “during opening hours” are underestimated. In many cases a company or institution is precisely at its most vulnerable when fully occupied.
You can use access control on entrances and exits, but it is also possible to control access to specific rooms or premises by using access control on doors. Electronic access control also implies many practical advantages. If a pass is lost, for example, it can easily be removed from the system, making it unusable. If, on the other hand, ordinary keys are lost, the problems and costs can mount up considerably. It is also possible with a simple intervention to record people’s presence, enabling a company’s receptionist to quickly see which members of staff/visitors are present.
Gantner Ticketing has a complete range of access control products. You can choose, for example, for revolving doors, speedgates, three-arm turnstiles or other solutions. Different access carriers are also possible: magnetic cards, proximity cards, MiFare cards, etc. A customised access control system can be developed according to your needs and wishes.
